Alternative Motorized Camera Head

Current camera control heads use fairly standardized mechanics, mainly a rotator motor for base rotation, and camera tilt. For 360VR we need more degrees of freedom, and for lightfields we need 6DOF with a fair amount of travel. I stumbled upon Oleksandr Stepanenko 's YouTube channel and was inspired. Linear screw actuators are a lot easier to manufacturer than the typical axial rotator that most camera control heads use. I think one of these designs would make for a great 360VR camera platform.
