Auto-generating geometry data
3D modeling is a very time consuming task. It is a mix of artistry and a ton of grunt labor. Certainly with today's technology there should be a way to scan a scene and generate usable 3D geometry. I say usable because we have all scene Guardians of the Galaxy and the point cloud capture. I have a LIDAR scanner that can capture these point clouds, but really a processing step needs to be invented where that point cloud can be scanned for 3D geometry, a thousand points that form a plane should just be identified as a plane, a table should be "converted" to simple geometry of a cable.
